Our nine favourite journalist bloopers

If you have read these blogs before you will know we sometimes focus on media interviews which perhaps have not gone so well.

It is not about embarrassing the spokesperson in question – we know media interviews can be incredibly stressful and that mistakes can and will happen.

But these clips offer real, topical and relevant examples of the types of errors which can adversely impact on television and radio interviews and ensure messages are not remembered.

They are a great way of bringing to life some of the media training theory and of showing other spokespeople how to avoid repeating the same mistakes.

But today we thought that rather than analyse an interview which might have gone we would turn the tables and bring you some of our favourite clips of news reporter bloopers, including one which happened earlier this week (we still want to be timely).

The one where the reporter was just about to put some paper in the printer but had to present the news:

The one where local television reporter Lauren Hewett got drenched (twice) by passing motorists:

The one where a sports reporter pretended his hand was an iPad:

The one where some very important grammar was left off the autocue:

The one where an off air telling off was broadcast to the nation (strong language):

The one where a journalist working on a documentary got very, very angry:

The one where we all played 'where's the presenter?':

The one where the weather man was caught making a rude gesture:

And we had to finish with our all-time favourite, the one where the BBC interviewed the wrong guest:

What have we missed? Let us know your favourite bloopers in the comments box below.
