We all do it – whenever you’re introduced to someone for the first time and before they’ve even opened their mouth, you’ve already decided what they are like, just by what they are wearing. Harsh but true. So imagine how frustrating it must be when you do a really good interview but the only thing that everyone remembers is your rather bright tie or dangly earrings. As far as TV interviews are concerned, your image determines what kind of an impact you have on the audience. If you look like you’re someone in authority, someone they can trust, then they will watch and listen.
