We offer two scheduled media skills courses, Proactive and Reactive. Both are designed to prepare you for contact with the media, be it radio, television or the press. Our Journalist trainers use a range of practical media training techniques to explain how the media works and to allow individuals to cope with its demands.
Reactive Media Skills is designed to help delegates prepare for media interaction during a crisis – whether large or small. It may be that the delegate is a new addition to your crisis management or business continuity team and is yet to experience formal crisis management media training.
Attending delegates must have a solid understanding of the media, of message development and of controlling these messages during a broad range of interview scenarios. Ideally they would have already completed one of Media First’s Proactive Media Skills courses or perhaps attended some of our bespoke training.
During a crisis there's little time for calm reflection, for clearing facts with colleagues, and planning your response. The media will be more demanding than ever and the public hungry for information. By taking a practical and realistic approach to our training courses, Media First will give you the best possible preparation for an unexpected event. We teach you to remain in control while not appearing arrogant, and to demonstrate concern while not seeming weak.
Delegates will learn to:
This course takes place at Media First's TV and radio studios in Reading and includes lunch and refreshments. There will be a maximum of 10 delegates attending. All broadcast interviews will be recorded and given to the delegate on DVD alongside detailed individual written feedback.
